The event will opened by the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, the Mayor of Newcastle and Elizabeth Robertson, Research Director Diabetes UK, London at around 10:15am to 10:30am.
The day has been designed to support those with Diabetes, those who care for someone with Diabetes and for those who might be at risk of developing Diabetes, sometimes referred to as ‘Pre-Diabetes’ During the day you will be able to find out more about Diabetes symptoms, complications and its treatment.
Diabetes UK North Staffs Group will have a table in the main hall; here you will be able to talk to members of the group and pick up pens, mugs, leaflets, booklets etc.
As well as Diabetes UK North Staffs Group there will be a whole variety of other tables to visit, some related to Diabetes e.g. glucose testing, glucose meters, foot care, diet & diabetes and others from different charities who can offer help and advice on a whole range of areas.
In the second hall there will be a number of talks on Diabetes and its treatment given by specialist health professionals who work within North Staffordshire.
Refreshments will be available throughout the event.
